Appointment to the Health Products Regulatory Authority and to the Advisory Committee for Human Medicines - 28 November 2024

Following a Public Jobs campaign, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has appointed Dr Suzanne Kelly as a member of the Health Products Regulatory Authority and as a member and Chair of the Advisory Committee for Human Medicines (HPRA) with effect from 1 November 2024 to 31 October 2029.

Dr Kelly qualified from University College Dublin and trained in Internal Medicine, attaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCPI). She then completed General Practice training through RCSI in 2009. She has a subspeciality interest in Diabetes and joined the Diabetes in General Practice group in Munster where she currently serves on the Board of Directors. Dr Kelly was National Lead for Integrated Care for Diabetes between 2021 and 2023, representing general practice interests at a national level and presenting at numerous conferences. She continues to be involved in research and education in Diabetes. Dr Kelly then moved into the role of Deputy Medical Director of the ICGP (Irish College General Practitioners) working on education, research, and advocacy in general practice. Dr Kelly is also senior partner of a GP practice in Ballincollig, Co Cork.
