Appointments to Beaumont Hospital Board - 25 September 2023


Ms Pauline Philip

Originally from Dublin & now dividing her time between London & Ireland, Pauline Philip is the National Director for Emergency and Elective Care in the NHS (England). With a nursing & science background, Pauline has held a number of CEO positions across all healthcare sectors and other senior positions in the Department of Health. She was the Director of Patient Safety in WHO from 2002 to 2010 …and is presently the Chair of Lifebox, an international charity focused on safe surgery. She is an Honorary Member of the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland and received a Damehood for services to the NHS in 2017.

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has reappointed Pauline Philip as Chair of the Beaumont Hospital Board with effect from 19 June 2023 to 18 June 2026.


Councillor Punam Rane

Hailing from Goa on the west coast of India, Punam spent her college years in Mumbai where she graduated in physics and maths from the University of Mumbai and completed her Master’s in Computer Science. She came to Ireland in the late 1990s when she was headhunted by an Irish company as an IT consultant.

Punam completed a second Master’s in Innovation and Technology Management at UCD Smurfit School in 2007 while she was working for an investment bank, Northern Trust. She says that while the programme was hard, but it was a game changer for her career path, both corporate and political. Following completion, she began a leadership programme with mentorship from the CIO in the US.

In 2011, she moved back to India for two years to develop two new departments for the organisation and returned in 2013 when Fidelity Investments offered her a better leadership role where she was involved in setting up a new global department with four teams across the world. She remained with Fidelity for two and a half years before setting up her own company - Appistoki Ireland – which is still running today. Appistoki offers consultancy for retail banks and business development with clients from all over the world with offices in Singapore and in Ireland with our centre of excellence in Bangalore. Punam is also a Dublin City Councillor for the Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart electoral area.

Punam is nominated by Dublin City Council/Fingal County Council and appointed by the Minister for Health. This appointment is with effect from 19 June 2023 until 18 June 2026.
