Appointments to the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council

The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD has appointed the following members to the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council:
Dr Tomás Barry
Dr Tomás Barry is a General Practitioner at the Coombe Family Practice in South inner-city Dublin and Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine, University College Dublin. He provides pre-hospital emergency care as a volunteer doctor with Irish Community Rapid Response working in collaboration with the Dublin Fire Brigade and National Ambulance Service. He has acted as Course Director for the University College Dublin, Advanced Paramedic training program and has led general practice continuing medical education programs in community emergency care. Dr Barry has active research interests across primary care and community emergency care. His PhD research examined community responses to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. He holds a Health Research Board, Clinician Scientist Post-Doctoral Fellowship award and was recipient of the 2019 European Resuscitation Council, Petter Steen Young Investigator Award. Dr Barry is a member of the Cochrane Collaboration and also serves on the editorial board for Resuscitation journal.
Dr Barry, is appointed from 15 February 2021 to 14 February 2025, following a Public Appointments Service process.
Jason Van Der Velde
Mr Van Der Velde is re-appointed to the Council from 15 February 2021 to 14 February 2025. He was originally appointed to the council following a Public Appointments Service process.
