Reappointment to the Voluntary Health Insurance Board - 2 April 2025

The Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has reappointed Mr Brian Walsh as a member of the Voluntary Health Insurance Board with effect from 15 March 2025 until 28 February 2030.

Brian joined Vhi in 2014 as Group CFO and was appointed as Group CEO in March 2023; this followed a tenure as interim Group CEO from May 2022.

Prior to joining Vhi, he worked with global food and ingredients company Ornua, based in Los Angeles. Brian has led a private equity fund, with a mission of investing in small and medium sized European businesses. He has held senior executive roles in the international financial services, telecommunications and FMCG industries, in Europe and the USA, including eircom Limited, Deutsche Telekom AG and Citibank.

Brian is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and a Chartered Director of the Institute of Directors. He is Chairperson of SOS Kilkenny CLG, a provider of supports to adults with intellectual disabilities and autism.
