The Acute Care Division is responsible for developing and overseeing implementation of policy and performance oversight in relation to acute hospital services nationally.
This includes:
- hospital groups and the smaller hospitals framework
- policy on scheduled and unscheduled care and acute model of care
- national trauma system
- the new children’s hospital and paediatric model of care
- maternity services
- pre-hospital emergency care
- cancer services
- organ donation and transplantation services
- blood and tissue services
- patient safety and quality in acute hospitals
- North-South co-operation
