The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, has today signed regulations that move the COVID-19 Passenger Locator form to an online only system. Completion of the form online in advance of travel to Ireland will also be a pre-boarding requirement for passengers.
The measures will take effect from 12 July. Any passengers travelling to Ireland from overseas from that date onwards will have to complete the form online in advance of travel. Passengers intending to travel to Ireland should be aware of this change and ensure that they complete their form before travel.
The Minister for Health said:
"Moving to an online only Passenger Locator Form is integral to our system of COVID-19 public health messaging to passengers after arrival to Ireland."
Notes
- paper versions of the COVID-19 passenger locator forms will no longer be accepted from 12 July
- from 12 July, it will be an offence to travel to the State without having completed a form
- carriers are obliged to deny boarding to passengers who do not have a completed online form, unless an exemption applies
- on completion of the online form, a passenger will be issued an email receipt which will have to be shown when boarding
- the COVID-19 Passenger Locator form is used to support contact tracing and a system of public health engagement with passengers after arrival. Moving to an online only form will improve delivery of these activities
