Expression of Interest - Appointment to the Disabled Drivers Medical Board of Appeal

The Minister for Health and the Minister for Finance invite expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced medical practitioners interested in being appointed as a member of the Disabled Drivers Medical Board of Appeal.

The closing date for applications is 3pm, Friday, 14 March 2025.

The Board, at an appeal hearing, determines whether an appellant who has been refused a Primary Medical Certificate by the Health Service Executive, does or does not meet one of the six eligibility criteria to qualify for provisions under the Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers (Tax Concessions) Scheme (DDS). Only those who are deemed to meet at least one of the criteria will receive a Medical Certificate. An individual must hold a Primary or Board Medical Certificate to qualify for DDS provisions. The Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers Scheme provides relief from VRT and VAT on the use of an adapted car, as well as an exemption from motor tax and an annual fuel grant.
