This Bill proposes to provide for an exemption of income from the Rent a Room scheme from Medical card and GP visit card assessment and for certain amendments to the Irish Medicines Board Act 1995. Primary legislation is required to provide for the exemption of Rent a Room scheme income and for the proposed amendments to existing powers of the Minister for Health set out within the Irish Medicines Board Act 1995.
The legislative provisions relating to the Rent a Room income will, when enacted, exempt Rent a Room income of up to €14,000 a year from the medical card and GP visit card assessment process administered by the HSE. The legislative provisions relating to the Irish Medicines Board Act 1995 will, when enacted, enhance the existing powers of the Minister for Health to make regulations for the sale, supply and administration of medicinal products, and management of medicines supply chains and shortages.
