Interdepartmental Working Group on the Rising Cost of Health-Related Claims Report

Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly received government approval on 9 July 2024 to publish the Report of the Interdepartmental Working Group on the Rising Cost of Health-Related Claims and to establish a group to progress the implementation of its recommendations.

The Group was chaired by Professor Rhona Mahony and comprised of membership from across relevant government departments and agencies. The Group held its first meeting in March 2023 and met on 14 subsequent occasions.

The Report of the Group, along with two ancillary reports, ‘Plaintiff experiences of the medico-legal environment in Ireland (UCC)’ and ‘A Comparative analysis of clinical negligence claims in a range of jurisdictions (HRB)’, the submissions made to the Group, the minutes of the meetings held and a press release are available at the links below.
