Principal Officer, Mental Health

Responsibility at Principal level for developing and overseeing suicide prevention strategy and mental health legislation and overseeing performance of HSE Mental Health Services. Specifically, responsibility for overseeing Connecting for Life, Ireland’s Suicide Reduction Strategy (2015-2024); monitoring and supporting the HSE on implementation of all mental health aspects of the National Service Plan; monitoring mental health capital projects; governance and performance monitoring for the Mental Health Commission under the Mental Health Acts 2001-2018; developing mental health legislation, including the recently completed review of the Mental Health Act 2001, with a Mental Health Bill currently being drafted.
