Sarah Gallagher has responsibility at Senior Meteorologist level for managing the Observations Division of Met Éireann which is responsible for Met Éireann’s meteorological, climatological and environmental observations infrastructure. The Division is responsible for the development, management and maintenance of systems supporting the core operational work of Met Éireann, including ground and upper air weather stations, marine, climate monitoring networks, atmospheric composition and precipitation chemistry laboratories, meteorological radar network, satellite reception systems, the national digital climate archive and associated ICT infrastructure. The Division is tasked with ensuring the sustainability of the observing networks used to define the climate of Ireland and for providing a wide range of quality assured data. The Division is also responsible for the meteorological, geophysical, and environmental monitoring and scientific research programmes conducted at Valentia Observatory.
