June monthly commencement data published

The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has published its monthly data on the number of Commencement Notices received (residential construction starts) for June 2025.

The data shows that 1,356 commencement notices for new homes were lodged in June 2025.

On a rolling 12-month basis (July 2024 to June 2025) 40,804 commencement notices were received.

Of the 1,356 commencement notices lodged in June, 34.5% are scheme dwellings, 37.5% are apartments and 28% are for one-off homes.

Of all the 6,235 commencement notices the first six months of 2025 (Jan- June), 31.5% were in the four Dublin local authorities. By Local authority, the most homes commenced were in Dublin City (1,433) followed by Cork County (515) and Donegal (365).
