CAMP - The Next Generation sets out a plan to move from the current emergency call answering centers to a single national system with three nodes, using a the most up-to-date technology available. The current system is 20 years old. For technical and practical reasons the fire services will change over to the National Digital Radio platform currently used by other emergency services.

CAMP is a Computer Aided Mobilisation Project which provides a vital 24 hour / 365 day call answering service for the public to contact fire services when they have an emergency. The operator will send the appropriate fire services and supports to the incident. Since 1992, fire authorities in three regions have collaborated to provide an effective and efficient service under the CAMP system. The CAMP project is made up of three Regional Communications Centers (RCCs) - Limerick (CAMP Munster), Castlebar (CAMP West), and in Dublin (CAMP East).

The CAMP project has now moved on to the next phase, C Trí.
