The development of policy documents is an important part of the work done in the National Directorate. These documents are used for fire safety work and for emergency management. These documents are prepared with the cooperation of the Local Authorities and the Fire Services
Two policy documents developed by the National Directorate have been adopted as national policy. These will be used to set the future direction of fire services in Ireland:
