1,024 commencement notices for new homes were lodged in May 2025
41,178 commencement notices were lodged on a rolling 12-month basis (June 2024 to May 2025).
In the last 12 months (June 2024 to May 2025) 41,178 home have commenced, down 21.8% from 52,665 homes in the prior 12 months (June 2023 to May 2024).
Of the 4,969 commencement notices received so far this year (Jan-May), 30% were in the four Dublin local authorities.
By local authority, the most commencement notices this year so far, have been in Dublin City (1,105), followed by Cork County (444) and Donegal (322).
