Report of the Building Standards Regulator Steering Group

The Building Standards Regulator Steering Group was established by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage on 28 February 2024.

The Steering Group was tasked with informing the development of proposals on the role, scope, functions and organisational structure of the Building Standards Regulator in the context of commitments in the Programme for Government, and in Housing for All (Action 25.2), in relation to the establishment of an independent Building Standards Regulator.

Having considered the issues, and following its discussions over the period since its establishment, the Steering Group makes a set of 14 recommendations which are set out in the document below:
