Geraldine is the Director of DNA. She provides support for the Director General in fulfilling laboratory function and deputises on a seniority basis. She acts as the line manager and mentor for the teams dealing with biological evidence and is responsible for managing the team managers to deliver on agreed outputs. As Forensic Science Ireland has been appointed custodian of the National DNA Database, she is responsible for the establishment, maintenance and ongoing development of the National DNA database including interaction with the stakeholders. She is responsible for the implementation of specified projects arising from the laboratory business plan and also has responsibility for legal affaires, including queries in relation to defence visits and disclosure visits as well as contact with the DPP'S office.
