About the Victims Charter
The purpose of the Victims Charter is to help you find the support you need if you ever become a victim of crime. The Charter describes the Criminal Justice System in order to help you understand what to expect and to explain the journey ahead.
This is divided into main three stages:
- Support and Reporting Stage
- Courts Process Stage
- Post-Trial Stage
The Victims Charter website will provide you with information relevant to you at each of these steps
It also includes:
- A section on your rights and the law
- A plain English guide to legal terms
- Information on how a criminal case is investigated and prosecuted
- The law around Domestic and Sexual Violence
- Descriptions of protections available to victims through various court orders.
