The Head of Legal Unit has responsibility for the Legal team. The purpose of the Legal team is to support the Department on all legal matters. This includes providing legal counsel on a variety of matters, managing the Department’s litigation, and arranging for the establishment of Tribunals and Commissions of Investigation. This team works closely with the Legal Services Support Unit (LSSU) in Immigration Service Delivery to ensure that there is oversight and consistency in the legal advice provided across the Department.
