The COVID-19 health pandemic brought about a sudden and significant change in working arrangements for everyone. Civil servants adapted successfully and swiftly to this new environment and the requirement for many to work fully remotely and their efforts have ensured continuity of key services to the public and business over the last 17 months.
As we look beyond the pandemic, the Government is committed to developing models of flexible working that ensure the civil service continues to be an employer of choice while delivering quality public services. The Civil Service Management Board is taking a lead on this important issue and has produced this overall policy statement to guide individual organisations in the civil service in the development of tailored policies that are appropriate to them and their employees.
