The Climate Division is responsible for coordinating climate policy across DPER and providing policy advice in support of national climate policy and public investment objectives.. The Division is responsible for monitoring the implementation of Project Ireland 2040 and the National Development Plan, enabling the development of the construction sector to support value for money in public investment and driving improved governance on major infrastructure projects.
A critical aspect of the work of the Division is oversight of expenditure in relation to sectors most relevant to climate action and public investment including: Agriculture Food and the Marine; Transport; Environment, Climate and Communications Vote (DECC); Foreign Affairs and Overseas Development and the Office of Public Works. The Division is tasked with improving the evidence base underpinning climate action policy through new climate policy analysis and evaluation. Finally the Division is driving the performance budgeting agenda including as it relates to green budgeting, equality and well-being.
