Minister Donohoe promotes Ireland on St Patrick’s Day visit to South Korea

The Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe TD, is in Argentina this week (14-18 March 2017) as part of the government’s 'Promote Ireland' Programme around the world for St Patrick’s Day.

Minister Donohoe’s programme includes a range of economic, political, cultural and Irish community engagements, in a country which boasts one of the largest Irish communities in the world.

During the visit, the minister will have meetings with his Argentine counterpart, Minister of the Treasury, Nicolás Dujovne, who currently chairs the G20 group of finance ministers as part of Argentina’s G20 presidency this year.

In addition, he will participate in an Irish Business Network Argentina event which fosters and promotes business ties between Argentina and Ireland.

He will also attend several Irish community-related events, as well as the ceremonial greening of famous sites in Buenos Aires, including the Obelisco and Avenue Corrientes.

Speaking about the visit, Minister Donohoe said:

"It is a great honour for me to represent Ireland in Argentina this St Patrick’s Day. The St Patrick’s Day period provides us with a unique opportunity to promote Ireland on the international stage and to renew the strong bonds between Ireland and Argentina.

"I look forward to further developing bilateral ties across a range of business, political and cultural fields and to meeting with the Irish community in Argentina who have played such an important role in creating and maintaining such a positive relationship between our two peoples.”
