The Public Service, through the Public Service Apprenticeship Plan, has an ambition to significantly increase the number of apprentices within the Public Service. This will be partly achieved through the creation of new apprenticeships within the Public Service, recent examples being the Civil Service ICT Apprenticeship, and the Social Work Apprenticeship currently in operation within the HSE and Tusla.
One such apprenticeship planned for the future is the Investigator Apprenticeship. It is envisioned that this apprenticeship will enable participants to learn on and off the job in a range of organisations with investigative responsibility, with those completing this apprenticeship pursuing careers involving criminal, regulatory, compliance, civil or administrative investigation.
Following initial meetings with Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science and the National Apprenticeship Office, expressions of interest are now being sought from organisations who may be interested in joining a consortium to define and design this apprenticeship.
This would be of interest to any Public Service body with investigatory responsibilities who would like to broaden their talent pipeline through this apprenticeship programme.
