Introduction
Open Government in Ireland recognises that the active engagement of citizens and civil society is an essential element to co-create and monitor the Open Government National Action Plan.
The Open Government Round Table’s immediate focus is to monitor the implementation of and co-create Ireland’s Open Government National Action Plan(s).
The information below is shared to ensure transparency (i.e. access to information), civic participation and public accountability on its operation and that the Round Table and its sub-groups (if any) meets the criteria in the Transparency Code to avail of the exemption set out in section 5(5)(n) of the Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015.
Background
- The Open Government Round Table multi-stakeholder forum is a key feature of civic participation. The Open Government Partnership process requires its ongoing operation, but membership is for 2 years.
- The Open Government Terms of Reference were co-created with Civil Society Interim Civil Society Bureau – Open Government Association representatives and finalised in 2021.

1st Meeting (29th November 2021): Minister of State, Ossian Smyth opened the Round Table working meeting; introductions and Secretariat briefed on milestones achieved to date and pathway to 3rd National Action Plan.

- Round Table voted on the initial commitments for inclusion in Ireland’s interim 3rd National Action Plan in December 2021. As draft commitments were completed for all 3 proposed, the vote informed the ranking.
