Island Policy Consultation Paper

This paper has been developed to support a consultation process to aid the development of a new Islands Policy. It sets out existing Government policies, some of which are focused on the island communities, and others that are available to all citizens, including those living on the islands. The department will be undertaking a comprehensive consultation process, listening to the island communities with a view to establishing what more can be done to sustain and develop these communities.

It is proposed that the new Islands Policy, and an associated Action Plan, will include provision for ongoing review, where progress will be assessed through the achievement of agreed objectives and targets set out in the Action Plan.
