Gary Tobin

Gary Tobin is the Assistant Secretary with responsibility for Enterprise Strategy, Competitiveness and Evaluation within the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment. He was formerly the Assistant Secretary with responsibility for EU and International policy at the Department of Finance. In that role he was also Ireland’s representative on the EU’s Economic and Financial Committee and on the Eurogroup Working Group.

He was previously Assistant Secretary with responsibility for banking and financial stability at the Department of Finance and prior to that, he was Assistant Secretary in the Tax Policy Division.

He is a certified bank director with the Institute of Banking and is a member of the Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service (IGEES). He also edited and co-authored the book “Irish Tax Policy in Perspective”, which is published by the Irish Tax Institute. He holds primary and masters degrees in Economics from UCD.
