Tony Kieran

Tony Kieran

Tony Kieran is Assistant Secretary General with responsibility for the delivery of the centralised operations.

In addition, Tony has responsibility for the delivery of a number of key modernisation and infrastructural projects (working family payment, parents benefit, EESSI, and so on) and has an ongoing involvement in the delivery of schemes developed to support customers during the COVID 19 pandemic, including the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment and enhanced illness benefit payments.

Tony has held many roles in the department, most recently as Principal Officer with responsibility for child benefit, treatment benefits, maternity, paternity and parents benefit and domiciliary care allowance. He has a long track record of service delivery and service modernisation and has also taken a central role at EU level over recent years, chairing the Executive Board that has overseen the delivery of the EESSI (electronic exchange of social security) system.
