Public Consultation on the Pathways to Work 2021 – 2025 Strategy

Pathways to Work 2021-2025 published in July 2021, is Ireland’s national employment services strategy.

The strategy aims to:

• assist those who became unemployed during the COVID-19 pandemic;
• assist the long-term unemployed; and
• assist those who faced disadvantage in the labour market even before COVID-19.

Pathways to Work has 83 specific commitments over five strands of action to achieve these ambitions. The first annual progress report by the Labour Market Advisory Council, on the implementation of these commitments was published in December 2022.

One of the commitments is to have a mid-term review of the strategy in 2023.

The focus of the mid-term review is to identify what amendments, if any, should be made to the strategy and to determine the priorities of the strategy until 2025. Stakeholder engagement in the form of a public consultation is an important element of this review process.

The public consultation guidance document below sets out the context of the review, and provides a number of questions to guide your input.

Deadline for submissions is 5pm, Friday 31 March.

Findings from the public consultation process will be considered by the Labour Market Advisory Council in their report to the Minister for Social Protection, which will be published in Q4, 2023.

Submissions may be published on the department’s website.

This is a public consultation and the Freedom of Information Act 2014 applies.

Personal information should not be provided and any personal information which you volunteer may be published. Any material which you do not wish to be made public should not be included.

Material or information that is regarded as commercially sensitive by you should not be included.

However, if you provide it, you should clearly identify the material and the reason for its sensitivity and why it should not be published or made available under the Freedom of Information Act.
