The Jobseekers and Public Employment Services division provide the general direction and policy under which the department administer the Supplementary Welfare Allowance scheme and advise the Minister on related policy issues and matters.
The Unit oversee the Back to School and School Meals schemes. They conduct comprehensive investigations where the risk of concurrent working and claiming social welfare payments is most prevalent.
They coordinate the implementation of the national action plan for social inclusion.
They also provides policy analysis and advice on poverty both internally and externally, including:
- social impact assessment
- monitoring poverty trends and research
- contribution to EU and international structures, manage stakeholder engagement
Jobseekers and Public Employment Services are also responsible for:
- activation and employment policy
- Intreo Roll-Out
- external service delivery
- employer relations
- business intelligence unit
- regional process modernisation
- JobsPlus operations
- statistical reporting to the minister
