Medical Review and Assessment Section

The main functions of the medical stream of Medical Review and Assessment Section are:

• the assessment and review of medical eligibility for all illness, disability and carer income support payments and other related schemes and entitlements
• work as the principal control mechanism for the illness, disability and carer payments schemes administered by the department
• to provide expert medical advice with regard to the evolution and operation of illness, disability and carer schemes
