Jobs in finance, hospitality, management, construction and many other areas.
Hundreds of jobs ranging from construction to management are on offer at the annual Intreo Careers Fair in Dublin today (Tuesday 6 September, 2016), which was formally opened by Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar.
Building on the success of last year’s event, 3,000 jobseekers are expected to attend and meet employers like BAM Ireland, BWG Foods, the Talbot Hotel, Sisk, City Post, Swissport, Dualway, and Sodexo. More than 40 employers are looking to fill positions at all levels in finance, hospitality, business, construction, management, retail, customer support, and many other areas.
Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar said:
"This Careers Fair is a really good opportunity for jobseekers and employers to meet, exchange advice, and above all to fill jobs. There is a huge range of opportunities on offer to both jobseekers and employers. Feedback from previous years has been very positive and we know that jobseekers really value the opportunity to meet with employers who are actively recruiting. It’s also a great opportunity to get advice on job search and interview skills from professional recruiters, and to discuss education and training options from the experts."
Whether you’re unemployed or looking to change jobs, experts are offering advice on CV preparation, interview skills, and job searching tips. Seminars are being held throughout the day covering issues like using social media to find work, CV preparation and interview skills, starting your own business, careers in hospitality and retail, interview skills, and knowing what recruiters want.
Career Coaches from leading employers are offering one-on-one coaching on how to improve career prospects. For anyone considering a career change or to build their skills, education and training providers are giving advice on training options. Intreo staff are also available for advice on services and supports for jobseekers.
Minister Varadkar also announced that National Jobs Week will run this year from 26 to 30 September, when Careers Fairs will be held across Ireland:
"Last year we held 145 events supported by nearly 1,000 employers and attended by over 15,000 jobseekers. We plan to do the same again this year. I particularly want to acknowledge the role that employers play in supporting these events. When it comes to recruiting new staff, taking on somebody who has been unemployed for some time is not always the most obvious choice. But we know that events like this can make that happen. As the recovery continues, the efforts that have been made in recent years to build relationships between Intreo and employers, and through new services like JobsPlus, are helping employers to find new staff, and unemployed jobseekers to find work."
National Jobs Week 2016 will take place later this month from 26 to 30 September when over 150 events are planned across the whole country promoting awareness of the range of services, supports and products provided by the Department of Social Protection through its Intreo Centres for both jobseekers and employers.
