What the Special Funeral Grant is
If someone dies at work, a special Funeral Grant is available under Injury Benefit.
The grant is paid at a single rate of €850.
How to qualify
To be eligible for this grant, the death must have resulted from:
- an accident at work
- an accident while travelling directly to or from work
- an occupational disease
The person must have paid a minimum of one week's social insurance (PRSI).

The grant is paid at a single rate of €850.

To apply, you need:
- the original death certificate or an interim death certificate
- a copy of the death notice
- a note of the funeral expenses
