Philip Newsome is the Principal Officer, Renewable Electricity Division with responsibility for the development of onshore renewable electricity policy to support Ireland's target of 80% of electricity demand to be supplied by renewable energy sources by 2030. The division leads on the Accelerating Renewable Electricity Taskforce and oversees the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) auction programme, spatial planning for onshore wind and solar technologies as well as small scale and community renewable energy policy.
