Consultation is closed
The Government has agreed to the introduction of an Obligation in the Heat Sector by 2024. This Obligation will incentivise suppliers of certain fuels in the heat sector to ensure a proportion of the fuel they supply is renewable.
Using feedback from our previous consultation, we have carried out a scoping exercise to examine potential Obligation structures and parameters. As we look to further develop the Obligation, we want to hear from interested parties and seek feedback on these Obligation parameters.
We are committed to engaging with stakeholders in a clear, open, and transparent manner. Positions set out in this consultation are proposed positions only. No final decisions have been made in relation to the structure of the Obligation, or how it will be administered. Feedback received as part of this consultation process will directly inform any decisions taken as part of the overall development and design process.
To capture feedback, we have developed an online survey and would particularly welcome views from suppliers of heat, or anyone with an interest in Ireland’s renewable fuel industry.
The closing date for submissions has been extended to 5.30pm on Friday, 6 October 2023
If you would like to complete the consultation in hard copy format, or through Irish, please contact us by email RenewableHeatObligation@decc.gov.ie or by post:
