Consultation

Consultation on the Strategic Environmental Assessment Environmental Report for the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2021

Consultation is closed

The Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2021 will support Ireland’s transition to net zero and help us achieve a climate neutral economy by 2050. It will establish a legally binding framework with clear targets and commitments set in law, and ensure the necessary structures and processes are embedded on a statutory basis to ensure we achieve our national, EU and international climate goals and obligations in the near and long term.

In accordance with EU Directive 2001/42/EC and the European Communities (Environmental Assessment of Certain Plans and Programme) Regulations 2004 (SI 435 of 2004), as amended, Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) has been carried out on the Bill and its findings are presented in an Environmental Report.

All interested parties are invited to share their views on the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2021, as well as its associated SEA Environmental Report. These documents, along with the SEA Scoping Report and Appropriate Assessment Screening Report can be found below.

Due to current working arrangements associated with COVID-19, if you are unable to access the documents below and require inspection at DECC offices on Adelaide Road, please write to the postal address or email us using the details below.

The closing date for submissions is 5.30pm 23 July 2021
