Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty
Under section 42 of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Act 2014, public bodies are legally required to:
- eliminate discrimination
- promote equality of opportunity and treatment of its staff and service users
- protect the human rights of its members, staff and service users

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications launched its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy and Action Plan internally in July 2023. This Strategy and Action Plan is based on our vision for the department to be an inclusive workplace, where everyone is encouraged to be themselves knowing that they will be accepted and treated fairly with dignity and respect.

Gender Pay Gap Reports
The Gender Pay Gap Information Act 2021 Regulations require organisations with more than 250 employees to report on the hourly gender pay gap in their organisation across the range of metrics.
