The Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications convened a Taskforce on Just Transition in September 2023 in line with CAP23 commitments, to build consensus on an agreed approach on the establishment of a Just Transition Commission and to provide advice to the Minister and Government regarding the mandate, membership, and structure of the Commission.
The Just Transition Taskforce met five times over the course of six months to prepare its report to the Minister. The report was presented to the Minister in February 2024.
The Taskforce was chaired by Mr Kieran Mulvey, previous Just Transition Commissioner for the Midlands, and comprised of representatives from the social pillars, the National Economic and Social Council (NESC) and key Government Departments.
