“I’m delighted to be here in Clonmel today to announce the commencement of enabling works on the new Garda station in the town.

“This is a further example of how this Government continues to invest in An Garda Síochána so that it has provision for the equipment, technology, facilities, fleet and personnel it needs to carry out vital policing work.

“This investment is also an investment in the community so people are reassured that their towns and villages will continue to be supported by An Garda Síochána who play such an important role in keeping people safe across the country.

“As Taoiseach, I will always endeavour to support gardaí and new, modern facilities will assist gardaí further in their work.

“I want to thank An Garda Síochána across the country and in County Tipperary who continue to work hard to protect their communities.”

"I am committed to providing An Garda Síochána with the resources needed to deliver an effective and professional policing service, and ensure we have stronger, safer communities.

“I have secured €128m for Garda estates projects in 2025 and 2026 under the National Development Plan. This is in addition to over €220m which has been invested between 2020 and 2024.

“It was great to meet with those assigned to the current Clonmel Garda station today as the enabling works on the new station begin. We are also funding refurbishment works in Cashel and Bansha stations, as well as the Garda College in Templemore, to ensure that all Garda personnel and communities have the fit-for-purpose facilities they deserve, both now and into the future.”

“I am happy to be able to meet with the gardaí in Clonmel Garda station today as the enabling works begin on the new station. It is vital that gardaí have the resources that they require to ensure our communities are safe and feel safe.

“The commencement of these enabling works marks a significant step forward in our investment of over €60m euro in the Garda estate of Tipperary. These new facilities will enhance the ability to deliver key services under the new Operating Model, making Garda stations more accessible for the local community.”

“As Minister of State with the responsibility for the Office of Public Works, I am pleased that our continued collaboration with An Garda Síochána and the Department of Justice will see over €60 million euro being invested in the delivery of new and upgraded Garda projects across County Tipperary, here in Clonmel as well as at Cashel and Bansha Garda Stations and at the Garda College in Templemore. These new and modernisation projects are being delivered by the Office of Public Works team, who work tirelessly to provide important infrastructure projects on behalf of the people of Ireland.

“I am delighted to be here in Clonmel today to witness the progress of these enabling works, as the first phase of the overall scheme for the delivery of a new Garda Community Engagement HQ in the town. This major project will deliver a modern, fit for purpose work environment for members of An Garda Síochána and a state-of-the-art engagement hub to serve the people of Clonmel and its environs.”
