Taoiseach travelling to Canada to meet Prime Minister and Promote Trade and Investment

The Taoiseach, Mr Enda Kenny TD, today, Thursday, starts a trade and investment mission to Montreal and Toronto which will include a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The Taoiseach and the Prime Minister will then speak at a joint business lunch in their honour, attended by senior members of the Montreal business community. While in Montreal the Taoiseach will also meet potential and current investors in Ireland and visit the School of Irish studies at Concordia University where he will also meet with members of the Irish Diaspora.
On Friday morning The Taoiseach will address the Ireland Canada Chamber of Commerce, and will meet with current and potential investors in Ireland, address a Tourism Ireland event and visit Ireland Park, the Irish Famine Park in Toronto. The Programme concludes with a meeting with members of the Board of the Irish Canada Immigration Centre and other representatives of the Diaspora and an event with representatives of the Ireland Fund in Canada.
During his visit the Taoiseach will focus on strengthening economic, trade and investment ties with Canada in the context of the significant opportunities for Irish companies arising from CETA as well as the Government's focus on market diversification as part of its Brexit strategy.
The Taoiseach said:
'This is a very opportune time for my first visit to Canada as Taoiseach. I look forward to discussing with Prime Minister Trudeau our plans to further strengthen our economic and trade relationship and take advantage of the opportunities offered by CETA. I will also be updating him on our Brexit priorities and on our strengths as a location for trade and investment.'
