Targeted investment in support of a high-quality, safe, accessible and sustainable healthcare service are planned. Investment in healthcare facilities in the northeast will support integrated healthcare at local and regional level that supports health and wellbeing, and provides better care close to home.
Health capital investment projects in the northeast include the development of primary care centres and the upgrading and replacement of community nursing units across the north eastern region. The National Development Plan will also deliver a redevelopment of the campus at St Davnet’s, Monaghan, to provide:
- a primary care centre
- a mental health unit
- a 20-bed residential unit for older people
Plans are also in place to provide a new ambulance base in Ardee. An upgrade of the day unit and ward at Cavan hospital will be undertaken.
