As regards social housing, the target for the 2016-2021 period under this programme, is to deliver about 2,000 extra homes across the northeast region.
More than two-thirds of these units will come about through new builds. A healthy pipeline of activity is already in place, with about 1,000 units completed, on site or progressing through approval stages. This pipeline is increasing all the time and will be supplemented with acquisition and leasing activity, which will deliver targets to 2021 and beyond.
In addition, flexible housing supports such as HAP and RAS, will continue to deliver for the region.
Of the 1,000 additional social housing units being delivered, examples include projects at Drumbear Wood, Monaghan town (12 homes), and Smithborough, Co Monaghan (12 homes).
