Protecting Personal Data
The Department of the Taoiseach is committed to protecting the rights and privacy of individuals in accordance with the Data Protection Acts and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The GDPR imposes obligations as follows:
- Personal Data must be collected in a lawful, fair and transparent manner;
- It should only be obtained for specific and lawful purposes;
- It should be used only in ways compatible with these purposes;
- Data must be accurate, relevant and up to date;
- It should be retained for no longer than is necessary;
- It must be securely processed and stored.
Subject Access Request (SAR)
Under the GDPR, individuals have rights to obtain access to their personal data.
If you wish to submit a Subject Access Request for access to your personal data, use the attached form. When completed it can be submitted by post or by e-mail to the Department. The details are attached.
