2 new board members to join the National Concert Hall

The Minister for of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin, has today announced the following two new appointments to the board of the National Concert Hall:
- Mr. Peter McKenna
- Ms. Niamh Murray
The 2 appointees will each serve a 5-year term.
Commenting on the appointments, Minister Martin said:
“I wish to congratulate both appointees and wish them the very best during their term on the Board. I am very proud to announce these appointments of such talented people and thank them for offering up their time, skills and expertise to the National Concert Hall.”
Chairperson of the National Concert Hall, Maura McGrath welcomed both appointments stating:
“We are delighted to have Peter McKenna and Niamh Murray join the Board of the National Concert Hall. Niamh and Peter bring significant expertise and experience which will facilitate hugely in the delivery of our strategic ambition. This includes the advancement of our redevelopment plans for the refurbishment of the National Concert Hall and the ongoing development of our artistic vision."
The recruitment process was managed by the Public Appointments Service (PAS) and candidates who were brought forward in this process may form a panel from which future vacancies may be filled during the course of the year. It is envisaged that the next vacancy on the Board will arise following the enactment of the National Cultural Institutions (National Concert Hall)(Amendment) Bill 2022 which provides for the appointment of an additional board member with orchestral experience to the Board of the National Concert Hall.

Mr. Peter McKenna: is the Stadium Director of Croke Park and Commercial Director of the GAA. His business expertise covers strategic planning, sales and marketing, innovative new business development, and financial planning. He has extensive experience in developing sponsorship relationships and fundraising. He is a recognised leader in sustainability practice in venue management. His experience also extends to the delivery of major projects.
Ms. Niamh Murray: is Principal of Kilmacanogue National School on secondment as Director of Blackrock Education Centre. Her career in Education has facilitated a very positive connectivity with young people and enabled her to help develop their life skills and abilities, most especially in Music. She is regarded as one of Ireland’s finest sopranos. She was a regular and popular performer at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, for many years and indeed throughout her long and varied singing career, Niamh appeared in the National Concert Hall on more than a hundred occasions
