Internship Scheme in European Union Institutions

The Internship Scheme in European Union Institutions is administered by the Department in co-operation with the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council, the Committee of the Regions and the Publications Office.

The scheme is focused on the provision of opportunities for graduates to acquire work placements in the special subject field of translation and proof-reading.

The benefits of this scheme include:

• The provision of key work experience for Irish graduates in the European Institutions;

• The scheme will provide a new stream of graduates to the European Institutions in order to fulfil its recruitment requirements;

• It provides an opportunity for graduates to hone their skills in French;

• It contributes towards awareness among graduates in Ireland of the opportunities available in Europe and the experience acquired will greatly help interns who are interested in working in Europe as they engage in the EPSO recruitment process or that of the institutions themselves in the future.

€108,720.39 was paid out under the scheme in 2019.
