Service Through Irish

The department is committed to making every effort to accommodate customers who wish to conduct their business in Irish in accordance with the provisions of the Official Languages Act 2003.

As a reflection of this we reply in Irish to those who correspond with us through the medium of that language.

In this regard we have established an e-mail address gaeilge@transport.gov.ie to facilitate the receipt of electronic correspondence through Irish.

Publications

We ensure that all of our corporate publications that are brought to the attention of the public are bilingual. Copies of the publications can be downloaded from the website which we have recently updated. We aim to have our major publications available in Irish by December 2019.

Language Scheme

Additional information on our services through Irish is set out in our Language Scheme that came into effect with the agreement of the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs on 30 April 2007. This scheme, which will be in force for a period of 3 years, outlines the extent to which services are currently available through Irish, and identifies areas for future enhancement.

You can download a copy of the Irish Language Scheme 2021 - 2024 or you can get a hardcopy by contacting our Irish Language Officer by e-mailing gaeilge@transport.gov.ie
