Large Public Service Vehicles include vehicles with capacity to carry more than eight passengers for reward - normally buses and coaches.
This means that you pay a fare to travel on the vehicles.
The department has responsibility for the sector including the:
- licensing framework for Large Public Service Vehicles which is administered by An Garda Síochána
- licensing framework for Road Passenger Transport Operators Licences which is administered by the Road Transport Operator Licensing Division
- the operation of public bus services which is administered by the National Transport Authority
