Code on Assistance to the Victims of Air Accidents and Their Families

The Code on Assistance to the Victims of Air Accidents and Their Families sets out Ireland’s national approach to supporting those affected by air accidents. It was developed by the Department of Transport in close collaboration with industry stakeholders, government departments, and relevant agencies to meet Ireland’s international obligations

The Code establishes a set of high-level principles designed to guide and inform the assistance provided to the victims and their families in the aftermath of an air accident. It outlines the roles and responsibilities of key organisations, including government departments, state agencies, airlines, and airports ensuring that each plays an effective part in the provision of assistance. The Code promotes inter-agency collaboration and is intended to complement Ireland’s existing national emergency plans by providing additional guidance.
