Irish Coast Guard Safety Statement

The Department of Transport’s Irish Coast Guard division has developed and implemented a revised Safety Statement to support the Coast Guard’s activities and their ongoing programme of reform. Outlining the key processes and structures that underpin the organisation’s revised Safety Management System, its content represents the extensive contributions of full time and volunteer colleagues and reflects the extensive feedback also received from Coast Guard members through the Trust Index and Culture Assessment (TCA) programme.

Six key projects, including the publication of the Safety Statement, make up the Coast Guard’s ongoing programme of organisational reform which, together, are driving a continuous improvement process within the organisation. The Statement, together with the Mission Statement and Safety Policy, the Values Statement and the introduction of further training, demonstrates the Coast Guard’s ongoing commitment to carrying out its operations in accordance with best practice and statutory obligations.
