Transport Access for All (2012)

The provision of accessible, affordable and acceptable transport can make a very big difference to the quality of life for people.

People can feel cut off from wider community life, and can have serious difficulty accessing basic services, due to a lack of access to transport. This is particularly true for older people and for people with disabilities, although of course it applies to many others as well.

One of the core principles of Transport Access for All is that through accessibility improvements to the public transport system for people with disabilities, access for all people will be improved.

Providing a more accessible transport system is a key goal of all transport policy in Ireland.

Transport Access for All has the stated aim of "continuing to promote the development and introduction of accessible public transport services for the greatest number of people with mobility, sensory and cognitive impairments in the shortest possible time."
