The Assistant Secretary for Transport Investment and Public Transport Policy has responsibility for the following:
- Leading programmes of investment in public transport, active travel and road infrastructure under the National Development Plan to deliver on the national Planning Framework’s national strategic outcomes
- Leading policy development on land transport including sustainable mobility
- Governance oversight of the various State bodies in the transport sector including the National transport Authority, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, the Commission for Railway Regulation and the CIÉ group of companies
- Liaison with the Local Government Management Agency and the Road Management Office to provide a framework and delivery mechanism for the efficient and effective management of the road network.
